October Newsletter

Welcome to The PASS Newsletter

A message from our new Executive Director

Dear friends, partners, and members of the PASS family,

It gives me great joy to welcome you to the very first edition of our official PASS Newsletter — a space where we share stories of impact, updates from the field, and the inspiring journeys of the young men and women whose lives you are transforming through education.

Over the past months, PASS has continued to grow in ways that reflect both the strength of our mission and the resilience of our community. Together, we have taken bold steps to strengthen our operations, expand our reach, and deepen our commitment to South Sudanese youth across the region.

Building Systems That Strengthen Our Mission

This year, PASS successfully secured nonprofit access to essential digital tools such as Slack and Canva for Nonprofits — platforms that now allow our team to collaborate, communicate, and design more effectively across countries. We also rolled out designated organizational emails for all key team members, ensuring smoother coordination and professionalism in every part of our work.

These changes may sound small, but for a growing nonprofit, they represent major progress in building a structure that can sustain long-term impact. Every new tool, every streamlined process, brings us closer to operating at the standard our mission deserves.

Investing in Futures — $300,000+ Paid in Tuition and Living Allowances

Perhaps our proudest accomplishment this year is the successful disbursement of over $300,000 in tuition and living allowances for our scholars across South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

That means hundreds of students — many of whom are the first in their families to attend university have remained in school, continued their studies, and are one step closer to transforming their lives and communities.

Behind each of those payments lies a story of hope, a young person who refused to give up, a dream that refused to die, and a community that believed education could light the way forward.

This is why, it is my pleasure to introduce everyone to Susan – an inspiring PASS Scholar whose sincere message of gratitude to PASS, its team and our solid community of donors first made me a bit teary eyed when I watched it.

Watch Susan share the rippling change your generosity has had on her life.

A Growing Team, A Stronger Movement

PASS is powered by people — our team members, volunteers, board members, student coordinators, and partners who give their time and expertise so that others can thrive.

In the past few months, we’ve welcomed new team members, volunteers and coordinators, expanding our operational capacity, and strengthening our regional presence. Our growing team is the backbone of this movement — and we are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to serve with passion, dedication, and heart.

As we scale, we invite more people to join us — whether as team members, volunteers, donors, partners, mentors, or advocates. Every contribution of time, skill, or resource helps us sustain this work and reach even more students in need. The work ahead of us is huge, but we are determined to stay true to our vision – a world where the #1 poorest country in the world as ranked by the United Nations becomes a country where its youth has the education, access and opportunity to rise above extreme poverty and reach their full potential.

As we move forward, our focus remains clear — to provide access to quality higher education for South Sudanese youth, especially young women, and to build pathways out of poverty through learning, leadership, and opportunity.

To our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and scholars, thank you for being part of this growing story. Together, we are not just changing individual lives; we are shaping the future of a nation.
